The Outcasts Brass Band is a group started by T.C. Williams High School musicians who are performing at Market Square on the weekends over the past two years. The band has made a name for itself with a lively fusion of jazz, rock, funk, and pop. From Herbie Hancock, jazz fusion classics, and the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” to bouncy soul songs and instantly recognizable pop hits, the Outcasts want to get audiences moving.
According to alextimes.com, "The Outcasts Brass Band has been performing in front of city hall every weekend since the end of 2018, with the exception of three or four months of quarantine-mandated downtime. But before the band became a part of the city’s soundscape, it was just a dream Molina had in seventh grade. The band members decided to stick together, continuing to practice in the T.C. band rehearsal room for another month before the band teacher at the time told them they could no longer use the space. A few members of the band left after that, and the band became smaller and smaller until there were only six or seven members left. Things were looking dire for the Outcasts."
As per alextimes.com, "The Outcasts Brass Band is still going strong, making up for a lost time by playing their hearts out every weekend. And while the future is uncertain for so many people right now, Molina and co. still have high hopes for the band moving forward. They’re working on growing an audience through social media and the band will soon release a set of recordings they made at T.C. on Spotify, Kenny said."
